Barnard captures the expansive views of the Blue Ridge Parkway to the north and creates a secluded rear buffer
The house is a modern example of a traditional southern archetype of the Dogtrot, with the primary sleeping and living areas divided by an entry vestibule.

The materials and construction methods used in the design were carefully considered to allow the two owners to perform as much work as possible themselves. The embed floor details and interior furnishings are an extension of the owners personalities and travels throughout the world.
